The Sharepoint Learning Kit (SLK)

SharePoint Learning Kit is a SCORM 2004 certified e-learning delivery and tracking application built as a Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 solution. It works with either Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 or Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007.

SharePoint Learning Kit (SLK) is a SharePoint-based Web application built on a core technology called Microsoft Learning Components (MLC). We can use MLC to add e-learning functionality to new or existing applications. MLC provides:

Database storage of learner state information, including all interactions with content (e.g. “answer to question 4”)
Assistance with validation and storage of e-learning content, including SharePoint integration

SCORM Engine on Windows Mobile based Smartphone platform

Today, one can create quizzes using a Quizz Creator (e.g. HunterStone). That created quiz (which is SCORM 2004 compliant XML) can then be rendered on SharePoint via the SCORM 2004 engine. We have ported the SLK SCORM engine that exists as part of SLK to the SmartPhone. A user can download the SCORM 2004 engine for SmartPhone to their internet-enable device. They are then able to download SCORM 2004 content or quizzes onto the device and unbundle those packages with Quizzes to the device. This enables a student to work through the quizzes offline.

Features of the SCORM Engine on Windows Mobile 6:

Based on SLK source code that can be downloaded from the CodePlex site. The reference build used for the porting is 25662.
Uses SQL Server Mobile Edition for storing data locally. Hence users have the ability to Pause and Continue the training.
Renders SCORM 2004 and 1.2 content. Class Server is not supported in the current release.
User can either download the SCORM content from a connected desktop (via ActiveSync) or from the internet directly onto the device
